Primary & Secondary Schools

The City of Ontario has four school districts:

  • Ontario-Montclair School District
  • Mountain View Elementary District
  • Chino Valley Unified School District
  • Chaffey Joint Union High School District

Ontario's primary and secondary schools place an emphasis on academic excellence including fundamental skills essential for continuing learning and provide students opportunities to prepare them for responsible citizenship and career options.

From 2000-08, employment grew from 78,431 to 107,069 jobs, an increase of 36.7%. This growth outpaced the region.

Ontario's high school students attend one of the City's three high schools. Chaffey High School, named for Ontario's founding family, is located on Euclid Avenue and is situated on 65 acres. The cornerstone for the original school, Chaffey College of Agriculture, was laid in 1883 and the school was opened in 1885. After separating from the University of Southern California, the campus became a high school in 1901. Ontario High School is located on West Francis Street and the new Colony High School on East Riverside Drive in Southeast Ontario.
