Weekly Round Up: July 13

Yes, it is the middle of July already - which for some folks means it is time for back to school shopping. In other news, here’s a look at the Top 7 Things happening in Ontario, California business life:1. CAGLES APPLIANCE: With $50 in their pockets and a desire to head West in pursuit of the American Dream, Aubrey Cagle and his wife Lorene landed in Ontario, California, in 1946 to eventually open one of the Inland Empire’s longest running independent appliance stores. Read more.  2. START ME UP: The Stones are coming to Ontario! Well, the Rolling Stones tribute band, that is. Join 2,000 of your closest friends this Wednesday for the Summer Concert Series at Ontario Town Square as Jumping Jack Flash performs from 7 PM to 8:30 PM. QUESTION: Where can you find 8,200 acres of undeveloped land? Right here in Ontario, California. This property is pegged for residential and commercial development, and is now known as Ontario Ranch. ONTARIO MILLS: One the nation's biggest indoor shopping malls is now hosting the Summer Nights Festival featuring music and vendors from 4 PM to 7 PM every Friday and Saturday through August 29. JOB FAIR: The City of Ontario is a proud sponsor of the 2015 West Valley Regional Job Fair hosted by San Bernardino County on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 8 AM to 12 PM at the Ontario Convention Center. Read more. 6. NEW BUSINESSES: In June, 56 new businesses announced they will be opening their doors in Ontario. Recent additions to the Ontario business community - or at least new owners to established businesses - in the past few months include Aria in downtown Ontario at 112 W. B Street, King Sushi at 2550 S. Archibald Avenue and Rossa’s Cucina Enoteca at 425 N. Vineyard Avenue.7. UPCOMING EVENTS: The next few weeks will be busy in Ontario, so make sure you have marked your calendars for the following events:

  • Coming this weekend to Ontario Convention Center is the Home & Backyard Show on July 17 to July 19. Read more.
  • Ontario is part of an elite group of cities that will be Host Towns for the Special Olympics World Games 2015 Los Angeles. Before the World Games begin on July 25, more than 7,000 athletes from 177 countries will be welcomed to communities throughout Southern California, including Ontario.  Read more.
